Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Body Butter Bureau (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit this site, place an order, or contact us, and how we use it. We do not sell your personal information.

What we collect

• Order details. When you pay, our payment partner collects your name, email, phone number, shipping or billing address, and payment card. They share your order, contact and address details with us so we can fill it. We never receive your full card number.
• Messages. If you message us on Instagram or talk to us at the kiosk, we keep what you send so we can help you.
• Your bag. Items you add to your bag are saved in your own browser’s local storage, on your device. They are not sent to us until you check out.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider logs basic request data, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.

Email and text sign-up

If you sign up for our welcome offer, we collect the email address and/or phone number you give us, the time you signed up, and the page you were on. We use them to send your discount, restock news and offers. Texts are recurring automated marketing messages, up to 4 a month; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts or HELP for help, and use the unsubscribe link in any email. Signing up is never a condition of buying. We do not share or sell your phone number or text consent to anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies and tracking

We use essential browser storage to keep your bag, your cookie choice and your welcome code. These are needed for the shop to work. The first time you visit, we ask whether you also allow non-essential cookies, which we would use to understand how visitors find us and to measure our ads. If you choose “Essential only”, we do not load them. Today the site runs no analytics or advertising cookies either way. We do keep simple daily counts (for example, how many product pages were viewed and which site sent the visit). These counts use no cookies and store nothing that identifies you. To change your choice, clear this site’s data in your browser and you will be asked again. Our payment partner may use cookies on its own checkout page to process payments and prevent fraud.

How we use it

• To process, ship and support your orders, pickups, returns and subscriptions.
• To answer your questions.
• To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
• To send you news, offers and your welcome discount by email or text, only if you sign up. You can opt out at any time.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting duties.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run the shop: our payment processor, shipping carriers, our website and database hosts (Vercel and Amazon Web Services, which store sign-ups and order requests), and the email or text service we use to message you. They may use your information only to provide their service to us. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

How long we keep it

We keep order records as long as we need them for your orders and for tax and legal reasons, usually up to 7 years. We delete messages and other information when we no longer need them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and California law, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of targeted advertising or sale (we do neither). To make a request, contact us. We will reply within 45 days and will not treat you differently for using these rights. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.

Children

This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, and payments are handled on our payment partner’s secure page. No method of storage or transfer is 100% secure.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date.
